WORK IN PROGRESS
TO THE NORTH, 2017-
To the North is a coming of age story about Samaa and Iris, two girls who had to leave their home countries in 2015 to create a new life in Sweden.
When the film starts both girls are eight years old. They both live in a trailer home at Möllstorps family campsite on Öland, now functioning as a refugee shelter. Samaa with her Syrian family, Iris with her Albanian family. Both of them with two younger ”annoying” brothers and both of them with a lot of questions about this new home country. This becomes the foundation of a strong friendship between them. But then the shelter suddenly closes and Samaa is moved to Gothenburg while Iris stays at Öland, giving them no choice but continuing life by themselves.
The film is expected to premiere in 2025.
